C.A.R.E. Project

  • Only 1 in 2 children in the Dominican Republic finish the 4th Grade.
  • 1 in 4 go on to complete 8th Grade.
  • In the rural countryside, children begin dropping out of school at the age of ten and as young as third grade.
  • Many children do not exercise their right to education; they never learn to express themselves; and they lack the resources and opportunities to play.
  • With only 1.2 percent of the Gross National Income allocated to Education, the Dominican Republic ranks 162 out of 168 internationally registered countries in reference to education.
  • In addition, 24,000 people worldwide die on a daily basis due to hunger and hunger related diseases. 70% are children. Children arrive at school malnourished and lacking the concentration needed to learn. **

We hope to make a difference.

The C.A.R.E. Project will look to reach out to Children At Risk and give them an Education. We are hoping to pull 12 - 15 “at-risk” children between the ages of three and six to enroll them in a pre-school of our own where they will learn basic education, have the opportunity to play and begin to use their imagination.

But more importantly, our children will be fed at the school; they will have the opportunity to develop relationships and receive love and affection from their mentors; they will find faith in a Spiritual foundation. They will learn what it means to truly become educated and will hopefully leave our school with a passion for learning and more hope for their own future. And it will all be done in English so they have their own tool to break out of poverty.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a background/knowledge of education to begin developing a curriculum that will meet the Progressive interests of the school as well as the needs of the Dominican people.

We will need dedicated people, young and old, to carry out our curriculum and become mentors for the children in our school.

We are also looking for people to help us get started. While each Dominican family will be responsible for paying a portion of their child’s costs, all of our children will need sponsors to help defray their costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, start today! Contact our Director at villagemountainmission@yahoo.com.

Help us help them. Make a difference today.
